Internet Problem!

Hello, this will very short, for a change of pace. I'm having an internet problem that's been plaguing me for a couple of weeks. Comcast technicians have come and gone, and are returning again today. Hopefully that will finally get it all sorted out.

I'm just mentioning this because usually I'm very good about touring around, reading other people's blogs, and leaving comments. I'll soon be able to return to that, I hope, but at present I can only hold a connection for five minutes or so.

Wish me luck with Comcast, and the gods of internet connection. I'll haunt your blogs when I'm able to, once again.

Edited to add: Well, it's back for a few hours! That's the good news. The bad news, it turns out it's the cable, internet feed for the entire neighborhood which they will start work on very soon. Estimated to be a work in progress until Tuesday. Here's hoping the entire neighborhood doesn't figure out that I'm the squeaky wheel that ended up meaning the entire neighborhood will possibly be without internet for three days.

I hate it when my internet won't work. I would rather live without hot water than the internet. I know, VERY sad LOL. Good luck!

Don'tcha hate it when that happens? Whatever did we do before we had the internet? I have missed you, my friend. But I have been busy too, so I have not been blogging as faithfully as I should.

Hurry back...!

Cheers,
Jo

Ack.. three days! That's just.. cruel. Here's hoping it's much less painful than that.

I know what you mean, The Bug! I'd make a terrible Amish person, "Where can I plug this in??"

Thank you, Jo. I've missed being able to visit too. It's a busy time of year though, don't feel pressured to blog :-)

Hi Hilary, it wasn't too bad after all! At least not for me, they found my broken "splitter" (I didn't feel a thing, Doc!) which was what was wrong in the house ...and then the techs worked on the neighborhood issue all day long yesterday, seemingly having resolved it. So, for me, and even for the neighbors it was relatively painless.

For the techs? Yeah, I live in a part of Colorado that got ten inches yesterday, so mainly whenever I thought "I want to use the internet...this sucks..." it was a very relative sort of feeling.

That was the exact problem I had at my daughters! Comcast there, too!

I apologize for the trouble. I know how important it is to have a consistent connection.
Let me know if you need further assistance. I work for Comcast.

Aha, I have company in the "bad splitter" boat, excellent, at least I know it isn't just me...misusing a splitter, or whatever the heck I did ;-)

Hey look Nancy, I think we conjured a Comcast person!!

Helllllloooo Comcast person (aka Mark)...uh, thanks! It's all sorted, everyone with Comcast was super helpful and worked the weekend to sort out the problem, so I've got no complaints.

Oh, except for one -- tis a tad creepy that you just popped up on my blog because I mentioned Comcast, because I somehow doubt you're just a regular reader. I mean, don't get me wrong, I appreciate the concern, and personally find Comcast worth it.

But you're giving off a Big-Brother-Doth-Lurk vibe with that kind of ...uh...expression of concern, and offer of help :-)

(Please don't fry my modem from space for saying so ;-) )

Being off the Internet is really, really bad news for us, so hope you are fixed up soon.

Thank you, Vera! It is all sorted out, and I was just heading over to your blog when your comment popped up. Serendipity! Thank you, that was a kind thing to say, and I appreciate it.

@Mark -- by the way, I really am just teasing. Everyone involved with Comcast did a really good job. They worked hard, and in some not great weather, to solve my problem :-)

I had a problem like this with them years ago. It did get fixed and they were great about it, but it took a little time to figure out all the problems.

Sorry about the internet thing.

But if you are reading this more than likely it is back up and running...so never mind...unless it is still messed up...then sorry again...ha

Thanks for visiting my little old blog.

Hi Kyle :-) Yes, it took a little bit to track down our in-house problem also. It was one of those instances of things never acting up at the doctor's. Our weak and sporadic signal behaved beautifully around the techs.

However, the third visit involved two techs, one of whom left me his cell phone number and said, "Call me when it happens again."

As luck would have it, it happened again as soon as they left, I called and they turned right back around, found the problem, and fixed it. It was actually quite funny, "The Call Is Coming From Inside the House!" type of moment as they went off on a fast search to pin it down before it corrected again.

Ah, technology. Lost without it! I'm really make a terrible pioneer.

Thanks Amy :-) The problem is entirely sorted out, thankfully!

I have a different internet problem, that I did to myself. I made my wireless modem not wireless...by doing something silly and then not writing down the WPE key. I'm awesome with computers. And now for some reason I can't hit the enter button without something weird happen, so (new paragraph) Thanks for reading my little boring blog, it means a lot to me! Every time I read your blog it just solidifies the fact that I need an editor of some sort. Or to take writing classes...Oh to dream...

Your blog isn't boring Miranda, but you're welcome, and I'm glad you enjoy the comments. Thank you for the compliment, by the way. I think that sometimes people are very afraid of their writing being judged.

Don't have that foremost in your mind, just write, keep writing, and eventually it becomes second nature. They're just words, and you're the one controlling them, not the other way around :-)

That's advice I received a long time ago, and I think it was very good advice. It helped me, at least :-)
